For more than a decade, INSPIRE Arts Lakewood has helped the community discover the city’s vibrant creative scene — even earning a Governor’s Award in 2016. Traditionally, each summer offered a concentrated burst of free and low-cost cultural experiences at more than 20 galleries, shops, and venues.
However, 12 years of programming have proven that Lakewood’s culture shouldn’t be limited to a single season. Moving forward, INSPIRE will feature and promote the work of Lakewood’s arts and culture partners through social media and web support every month of the year. This shift allows for a more meaningful connection between the community and the cultural practitioners who make Lakewood a colorful place to live and visit.
To kick off this year-round initiative, the city’s Heritage, Culture & the Arts facilities will host free exhibitions and activities throughout the summer.
A public reception will be on May 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. for the opening of several new shows:
• Amazar Tales | North Gallery
• Complexity | Lobby and Corner Galleries
• The Colorado Watercolor Society National Juried Show | Mezzanine
• Plein Air Buddies | Richey Gallery
