Simms Street and W. 8th Avenue signal Replacement
Project Description
Signal replacement at the intersection of W. 8th Avenue and Simms Street. The project will also include replacement of the curb ramps with directional ADA curb ramps, new storm sewer inlets, and small retaining walls.
March 2026 Update
Recently Completed Work
New traffic signals have been installed at 3 of the 4 corners of the intersection, as well as the curb ramps and sidewalk on all of the corners and asphalt patching. The final traffic signal on the northeast corner will be replaced at the end of the month or early next month when materials become available.
Current Work
The project is currently under construction with the focus on site restoration.
Upcoming Work
Over the next several weeks, the contractor will complete general site cleanup. When all the final concrete and asphalt work elements are finished, City of Lakewood striping crews will paint the final crosswalks and other pavement markings.
Traffic Impacts
Current traffic control includes single lane closures on each of the corners as work progresses during the daytime. No full roadway closures are anticipated as part of this work.
Target Project Completion
Remaining work elements including pavement markings to be completed in March, and the final traffic signal pole will be placed late March or Early April.
