Wadsworth and Morrison Road
Project Description
The S. Wadsworth Boulevard and Morrison Road Intersection Improvements Project is currently under construction with the primary goal of adding acceleration and deceleration lanes into and out of Peak View Park, replace the traffic signal, and add a new sidewalk on the east of S. Wadsworth Boulevard from W. Woodard Drive to W. Vassar Avenue.
March 2026 Update
Recently Completed Work
All major construction elements for the project have been completed. The contractor is expected to remain on site to perform general site cleanup, and removal of and remaining equipment used for construction.
Upcoming Work
Remaining work to be completed includes the final paving of the top layer of asphalt on both Morrison Road and S. Wadsworth Boulevard. Due to the current cold temperature, temporary asphalt was placed to fully open the roadway though the winter and the final pavement will be placed this spring. Over the next two months, the contractor will be correcting any warranty items identified during our final inspection. Xcel Energy is scheduled to repair the asphalt on S. Wadsworth Boulevard near W. Vassar Avenue. This work is expected to occur within the next two months.
Traffic Impacts
For the next several months, drivers can expect to see periodic lane closures as the contractor and Xcel Energy make final repairs in the roadway, correct final warranty items, and perform general cleanup of the site. These impacts are expected to be less frequent than what was experienced during construction.
Target Project Completion
Final paving operations will resume in the spring and are expected to last two weeks. During this time, roadways will be reduced to one lane during the day to remove the temporary asphalt placed in the fall and install the final permanent asphalt.
