For runners eager to trade asphalt for adventure, Bear Creek Lake Park delivers. Its rugged trails, natural terrain and sweeping views create the perfect backdrop for Lakewood’s Trail Running Series, offering a weekly reason to get outside and explore the Colorado outdoors.

Race at Bear Creek Lake Park
Runners of all levels are invited to take part in the 2026 Trail Running Series on Wednesdays, Sept. 2–23. The annual series offers a refreshing midweek escape featuring flagged courses that wind through rolling hills, singletrack stretches and wide-open meadows. Distances vary each week from 4 to 7 miles, and chip timing ensures a smooth experience for both competitive and recreational runners. The only requirement is to finish by sundown.

A community of runners
More than a race series, these events celebrate Lakewood’s active community and the region’s passion for trail running. Participants from across the Denver metro area return year after year to explore new routes, challenge themselves and enjoy the unmistakable energy of running outdoors. Whether you’re chasing a personal record or simply soaking in the scenery, each week offers a new opportunity to connect with nature and fellow runners.
