Sanderson Gulch (Jewell Park to Allison) Bank & Channel Stabilization

Project description
Slopes along Sanderson Gulch north of W. Jewell Avenue are deteriorating. This project will stabilize the side slopes and install drop structures in the gulch between Estes Street and Allison Street. These structures help manage changes in channel elevation and water flow. Guardrails will also be installed along the north side of Jewell Avenue, adjacent to the gulch.

November 2026 Update

Recently completed and current work
The gulch design is complete. Final coordination with RTD and affected utility providers is continuing. This coordination supports construction where the project interacts with existing transportation and utility facilities.

Upcoming work
Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2027, starting in the stretch of Sanderson Gulch west of Cody Street. Residents can expect the work to proceed in phases along the corridor.

Traffic impacts
The outside westbound lane of Jewell Avenue will be closed in phases between Allison Street and Estes Street. The trail on the north side of Sanderson Gulch is expected to remain open during construction. Watch for changing lane closures and give yourself extra time when traveling through the work area. Trail users should stay on the open trail and outside construction barriers.

Target project completion
Projected completion in summer 2027.
