West Calahan Drainage Improvements

Project Description
Groundwater along W. Calahan Avenue has been flowing over sidewalks and into the curb and gutter between S. Upham Street and S. Pierce Street. The city is designing a storm sewer system to redirect these flows off the street and prevent future maintenance and icing conditions.

May 2026 Update

Recently Completed Work
Final investigation to confirm the locations of existing sanitary service lines to adjacent homes has been completed.

Upcoming Work
Design plans are being updated per the findings in the geotechnical report. The project will be re-bid for construction in 2026.

Traffic Impacts
The sidewalk on the north side of W. Calahan Avenue from S. Quay Street to S. Upham Street will remain closed.

Target Project Completion
The project is projected to begin construction in Summer of 2026.
