West Calahan Drainage Improvements

Project Description
Groundwater along W. Calahan Avenue has been flowing over sidewalks and into the curb and gutter between S. Upham Street and S. Pierce Street. The city is designing a storm sewer system to redirect these flows off the street and prevent future maintenance and icing conditions.

July 2026 Update

Recently Completed Work
The storm sewer design has been selected as the best path moving forward. Final investigations to confirm the locations of sanitary services to adjacent homes have been completed.

Upcoming Work
Design plans are being updated per the findings in the geotechnical report. The project will be re-bid for construction in summer 2026.

Traffic Impacts
The sidewalk on the north side of W. Calahan Ave from S. Quay St. to S. Upham St. will remain closed.

Target Project Completion
The project is projected to begin construction in Fall of 2026.
