Project DescriptionGroundwater along W. Calahan Avenue has been flowing over sidewalks and into the curb and gutter between S. Upham Street and S. Pierce Street. The city is currently evaluating options such as storm sewer and other mitigation applications to redirect these flows off the street to prevent future maintenance and icing conditions.
April 2026 Update
Recently Completed WorkThe storm sewer design has been selected as the best path moving forward.
Upcoming WorkDesign plans are being updated per the findings in the geotechnical report. The project will be re-bid for construction in 2026. Final investigations to confirm the locations of sanitary services to adjacent homes have been scheduled for early March.
Traffic ImpactsShort term traffic impacts are expected for the sanitary service investigation. The sidewalk on the north side of W. Calahan Ave from S. Quay St. to S. Upham St. will remain closed.
Target Project CompletionThe project is projected to begin construction in Spring of 2026.
